Why do I need a Roadworthy Certificate?
You must obtain a Roadworthy certificate if you wish to sell a car in Victoria, unless you are selling to a spouse, or when the sale is between car dealers.
If your vehicle has been given a defect notice, you will need a roadworthy certificate in order to clear the defect.
Can I sell my car without an RWC?
If a vehicle is un-registered it can be sold without an RWC but before it can be transferred or re-registered a roadworthy will be needed.
How can I get a Roadworthy Certificate?
Bring your car to Manningham Automotive, we are an authorised Inspection centre - we are qualified to perform roadworthy inspection tests, even on LPG vehicles - we will inspect safety aspects of your vehicle including :
• wheels and tyres
• steering, suspension and braking systems
• seats and seat belts
• lamps and reflectors
• windscreen, and windows including front windscreen wipers and washers
• the structure of the vehicle itself
• safety related items on the body, chassis or engine.
If your vehicle passes the inspection you then be given a Certificate of roadworthiness for your vehicle.
Can you still do a roadworthy when my car is on LPG Gas?
Yes, Manningham Automotive are fully qualified to perform RWC tests on LPG vehicles.
How long is my RWC Valid?
An RWC is valid for 30 days from the date of issue.
How much does an RWC test cost?
The cost of obtaining a Roadworthiness certificate can depend on the age, type and condition of the vehicle being examined. We don't want to give you any false prices so please do call us, we'll be happy to discuss your vehicle and the likely costs involved in an RWC test.
Remember, a roadworthiness inspection test is not a fully comprehensive check of your vehicle. There could still be reliability issues, or major work needed on the engine - don't think just because you are buying a vehicle with an RWC that it means the vehicle is perfect.
